It’s almost midnight. Other than some excited crickets the whole neighborhood is sleeping. I sat with the book one more time to finish reading it for the second time in less than a week.
It is such a book that you can’t put it down once you start reading it. You know the climax of the book from the beginning and then you do not know what happened before the climax and how did the climax happened and despite having terminal cancer how the writer finished writing the book.
Life can be so beautiful despite knowing that it’s ending soon – Paul Kalanithi is such a brave human being who embraced the mess before and after his cancer diagnosis. This book is about how gracefully he lived every second before and after his illness and what a treasure he left for his readers. I will never know what amount of courage it takes for someone to say “I am ready” when he knows “It’s time.”
Thank you Paul Kalanithi for being you!
And then Lucy Kalanithi, Thank You for writing that epilogue, without that the book would have remain incomplete.
And then much love to Cady, I hope you know how blessed you are to be a daughter of two such wonderful and brave people xoxo
