I am just another human being from your “world”, a substitute teacher, a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister and someone who is a lot like you and who is unique in her own way.
I am the mommy of that boy, who loves to play more with spiders than with Legos. I am the wife of an IT guy, who snores a lot but takes care of my planter faucitis in the middle of the night. I am the first child of my beloved parents. I am the older sister of my younger sister who is charge of my only nephew.
I am an occasional painter and a daily writer who doesn’t publish her writing very often but secretly wants to share her writing with everyone. I love road trips over flying on a jet plane though John Denver’s “I am leaving on a jet plane” is always on my song play list. I love to eat aloo-bhaji (that’s a kind of potato fry in Bengali, not the French fries) and roti (a type of round bread, made of wheat flour). I like mango but my favorite fruit is jackfruit. I can skip coffee but my day doesn’t start without sugar free black tea in the morning.
Very often I want to run away from my city and want to hide myself in the valley of mountains. I love winter over autumn but I feel overjoyed when the leaves start changing color after the heat of scorching Texas summer . You can bring me any yellow flowers on my birthday and I’ll buy your favorites. I say that I don’t like to cook but I cook almost everyday.
The lights of Diwali and chilly Christmas night are two things that keep me hopeful in the heat of summer. If you ask me what is my favorite color then I would say “any color from Holi festival.”
No movie is better than Harry Potter and no song is better than John Denver’s Colorado.
I escape the party of 50 people but I can sit quietly for hours surrounded by my family and friends and say nothing. Their chattering is more pleasant than my wisdoms and frustrations. I hear the sound of raindrops on the roof of our sunroom and I become quiet. I love the smell of earth before if starts raining over the smell of most exquisite perfume.
I like the white clouds through which you can see some part of the blue sky, which is called cumulonimbus cloud and honestly, I can’t even pronounce the name! I like to watch the skein of geese going back home during sunset. I like the sound of crickets at night. I like the half moon covered by grey clouds.
From the diagnosis of clinical depression and postpartum anxiety to this point of life – it was a long, exhausting and powerful journey. I love my job and I can’t think of doing anything else other than being a substitute teacher, at least for now!
And then I want to move to a small town in USA surrounded by mountains, where in summer temperature won’t be more than 80 degree but in winter it won’t be snowing everyday! Do you know any city like that?
